GPS Management Systems Introduces In-Vehicle Display Unit for 2-Way Communications
(Brownsburg, IN) GPS Management Systems announces the availability of the M1000 Mobile Display Unit (MDU) in-vehicle communication and transaction module, a component in its Eye In The SKY® fleet asset locating, monitoring, and management system.
An option to the A1000 active GPS receiver/transmitter, the MDU supports two-way text communication between the base station and vehicle. This is accomplished using a cellular telephone connection, making this system an affordable way for smaller fleets and tradesmen
to own a GPS tracking system. Using the MDU enables fleets to pass along schedule and route changes, redirect lost drivers, transmit pre-programmed messages, or add customized features such as work orders, "pick lists" for vehicle inventories and more.
The MDU features a high visibility LCD screen, designed for vehicle operating conditions. It has adjustable contrast and backlight controls and an audible alarm to alert the driver to new messages. The M1000 operates off standard vehicle power (12 v) and is protected
against power surges and spikes. It can be equipped with optional accessories such as keyboards and printers. The controls are simple and intuitive for ease of operation. At just under 6” x 5” x 1.5”, the MDU takes up very little room in-cab. The MDU is designed for long service life and reliability in the toughest over-the-road conditions.
The A1000 receiver/transmitter and the SA1000 base station software package are required to support the Mobile Display Unit.
